Waterbury SOP Hall of Fame Dinner
Former Waterbury, CT Mayor, the Honorable George P. Harlamon was honored for his past service to the Holy Trinity Community and to the city of Waterbury at the 4th annual Sons of Pericles Hall of Fame dinner at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Waterbury, CT on March 26, 2011. At the dinner Mr. Harlamon was made an honorary member of the Sons of Pericles and was presented with a lifetime Sons of Pericles pin by Rick Pecka, Past Supreme President, SOP. The Honorable George Peter Harlamon has been a lifelong resident of Waterbury, CT. He has been a very active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community serving as President of the Parish Council and serving on the Council for over 30 years. He has been a member of AHEPA for over 50 years. He graduated from Fordham University with honors and received his MBA from the University of Connecticut. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II and served with distinction in the Philippines.
Hon. George P. Harlamon has been a lifelong member of the Republican Party and served as President of the Board of Alderman before he became Mayor of the City of Waterbury in 1968. He has also served as President of the Board of Park Commissioners and on the Board of Finance for many years.
This Sons of Pericles Hall of Fame induction is not the first for Mr. Harlamon. In recognition of his service to the City of Waterbury and his civil involvement as a member of the Board of Directors of the YMCA, Mattatuck Museum, Waterbury Exchange Club and Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, he was elected to the Waterbury Hall of Fame in 2003.
