Solon 61 Sons of Pericles Host
2nd Annual Hall of Fame Luncheon
Sunday, April 5, 2009
| The Sons of Pericles of the Waterbury, Connecticut chapter Solon 61, with the help of
the Maids of Athena, held their second annual Hall of Fame Luncheon over the weekend on April 5th, 2009. The premise of
the event is to honor a member of the church who has shown exemplary service to AHEPA, the Church, or the Community at
large. |
 |
This year, the Sons of Pericles chose to honor Elias Papoutsis, the chanter and overall manager of all
things related to the church. He has served Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church for over 40 years, and shows a level
of character and dedication that few can compare with. He has influenced the Sons by being a positive example and
showing them what it means to serve others. The Sons of Pericles presented Elias with a commemorative
plaque, and a name plate that will be added to an additional plaque which recognizes all honorees of the event for
years to come and is kept in a prominent place in the church.
|
| The event drew 230 patrons from the church and surrounding churches in Connecticut.
Various speakers were selected for the event, and the speakers were able to draw a clear picture of the man that Elias
Papoutsis is by sharing their own personal experiences with the community. As most of the supplies needed to hold this
event were donated, financially the event was a success as well.
|
| The chapter looks forward to working with the local Maids of Athena in chapter next year
to host a dual Hall of Fame luncheon to honor both a man and a woman in our church community.
