The tournament used a round-robin format, with 3 groups of 3 teams each playing the
other teams in their group. After eliminating five of the nine teams, the final four teams went on to the playoff
round on Sunday. At the end of two days of action, Middlesex, NJ proved to be victorious, beating St. Basil’s
64-51 in the Championship, with Virginia coming in 3rd place. An MVP trophy was presented to George Karis of
Middlesex, NJ. |
The organizational effort was spearheaded by Supreme President Dean Tselepis who was
assisted by members of the Patritha Chapter. The tournament ran smoothly and was a great success. The weekend
included a night out at Central Lounge in Astoria, NY (www.centrallounge.com), the owners of which made a generous
donation to the Sons cause. Proceeds from the tournament were donated to the AHEPA Cooley’s Anemia Foundation,
which was the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena National Project. |
