Sons of Pericles attend and speak at AHI’s Future of Hellenism Conference

On November 20, 2010 the American Hellenic Institute held its 9th annual Future of Hellenism Conference at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Speakers and attendees represented a wide variety of members of the Greek American community, including Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), John Anniston, and members of the AHEPA family. Four members of the Sons of Pericles attended the event: Joseph Skarzenski (Supreme Governor), Jason-Demetrios Vergados (Boston HUB#27 Chapter President), Michael Savvas, and Jesus Kalergis. Joseph and Michael, representing the Dr. Theodore Markellos Chapter (#243), were the two main speakers in one of the conference’s topics: A perspective from Young Greek Americans. In addition to both of them discussing their thoughts on Hellenism’s current presence amongst the next generation of Greek Americans, they promoted the Sons of Pericles using it as an example of how to get young Greek Americans more involved with the community.
